I know, too, though I've never been there...not exactly, anyway...one day I was by myself and climbed up where the gate was usually locked and IT WAS OPEN!!! I was shocked! But I didn't go because no one knew where I was and I was alone and afraid of getting stuck there. And I've been kicking myself ever since...time to go back.
This is on the north and east section of the wall walk- right next to the northeast corner of the Temple Mount. Right around the corner to the left is the Golden Gate. Inside the wall, down and to the right there is an entrance to the Temple Mount. The second time I was up here I couldn't walk all the way down to where this picture was taken because the guard at the entrance to the Temple Mount below waved me away. The "Faithful" were streaming either in or out from prayers and I guess he didn't want me anywhere near the entrance. I cheerfully stayed away; I had not desire to be part of an international incident or a rock-throwing party. :-)
